What is HCC?

Hickory Church Connection is the visible representation of the unity of the Body of Christ in Hickory, NC.

What are the purposes of HCC?

The purposes of Hickory Church Connection are to:

  • Give a visible display of the unity of the body of Christ.
  • Provide a promotional platform for the events that unify the church body.
  • Make an easy way for people to find a church to become a part of in Hickory.
  • Create a unifying link for all churches to easily associate with one another.
  • Network and communicate among the social ministry services of the churches of Hickory.

How is HCC funded and operated?

The Hickory Church Connection is a non-profit organization which is overseen by the following Board of Directors:

  • Earle Fincher, Discovery Church
  • Crockett Davidson, Vintage City Church
  • Bill Miller-Zurell, Holy Trinity Lutheran Church
  • Whit Malone, First Presbyterian Church
  • Bob Thompson, Corinth Reformed Church

The day to day operations are managed by volunteers. If you would like to volunteer, fill out the form on this page. Funding comes from participating churches that see the benefit of promoting the cause of Christ and the unity of the Body of Christ in Hickory, NC.

What are the guidelines for promotion of an HCC event?

For an event to be promoted as a Hickory Church Connection Event it must  1) be submitted two weeks prior to the event’s date, 2) have as a primary purpose to help local churches partner for worship, fellowship, ministry, and/or outreach, and 3) be reasonably expected to contribute to unity rather than division among Christians and churches. Based on these criteria, the staff and Board of Directors of Hickory Church Connection will decide which events to promote on our web site.

What are the guidelines for being a part of HCC?

All the local churches of Hickory that are in agreement with What We Believe are automatically included in the Hickory Church Connection. If a church does not desire to participate, the pastor or an authorized representative of the church may submit a request to be removed from the church listings on our website.

How can contributions be made to HCC?

All contributions are tax deductible. We hope to have a online donation tool set up soon, but for now please contact us.

How would a person volunteer to work with HCC?

Click here to complete the brief Volunteer application. When the form is submitted a staff member will contact the applicant with the actions available.

How can a person or organization volunteer for the events?

In order to volunteer to help in an event listed by Hickory Church Connection click here to go to the Volunteer page and complete the form supplied. That information will be conveyed to the event organizers by Hickory Church Connection staff. Contact with the volunteer will be made by the event organizers.

How can HCC help a person locate a new church family?

Hickory Church Connection provides a current listing of all participating churches. You can search for a church by name or by denomination. Click on the church’s name on the list, and that church’s website, phone number, and an e-mail address (if available) will be displayed. We are confident that all churches participating with Hickory Church Connection will be anxious to reply to any inquiry. If you have difficulty connecting with a church through their web site, look them up in the phone book or contact us.

How does HCC promote the unity of the Body of Christ?

The website is the primary way we promote unity. We make every effort to update our web site with participating churches as we learn new information. Hickory Church Connection also plans and promotes seminars and events bringing the churches of Hickory together for enhancing the ministries and services offered to the people of Hickory. Through cooperation with civic, educational, and social organizations the entire church community is included in this effort to advance the cause of Christ in Hickory.

How can a church or person support HCC?

The number one support mechanism for Hickory Church Connection is prayer. The greatest service to the unity of the Body of Christ is to pray for unity as Christ prayed in John 17:23, “I in them and You in Me, that they may be perfected in unity, so that the world may know that You sent Me, and loved them, even as You have loved Me.” Periodically prayer requests will be listed on the website. Those kingdom focused prayer requests are the lifeblood of the unity of the Body of Christ in Hickory. Volunteer and financial support is encouraged, but prayer is the highest priority.

How can I start a similar organization in my own community?

We are passionate about the cause of unifying the Body of Christ, and we would love to see this movement expand beyond our community. If you have an interest in starting a similar organization outside of Hickory, NC, please contact us. We will be glad to share our experience and the lessons we’ve learned along the way. We aren’t experts, but we want to help however we can!
